Fishing in Westchester County NY- is The Best if you know where to go

Places to go Fishing in Westchester County Spring/Summer 2023

Fishing in Westchester

Westchester County, New York, is known for its proximity to New York City and its many seasonal attractions. However, there are some lesser-known activities that people in Westchester participate in, and one of them is fishing.

Westchester has the best of both worlds when it comes to fishing, with opportunities for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. The lakes and streams in Westchester host a huge variety of fish, including Large Mouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Pike, Pickeral, and Perch. The reservoirs also hold Lake Trout and Salmon. The rivers and streams in Northern Westchester, such as Amawalk Reservoir, are great for trout fishing, with species like rainbows, brown, and brook trout to name a few.

If you're interested in fishing in Westchester, you will need a license/permit to go fishing. You will need two types of licenses: the NYS watershed license and the NYC Dept of Enviro Conservation permit to fish in the reservoir tributaries. The areas are patrolled by enforcement officers, so it's essential to get both types of permits.

In terms of saltwater fishing, Long Island Sound and the lower part of the Hudson River hold Bluefish, Striped Bass, Weakfish, Flounders, Porgy, and Tauhogs, to name a few. The Stripers and Bluefish usually arrive in the area around late April and mid-May, chasing Manhaden peanut bunker, sand eels, and spearing.

If you're into fishing, Westchester is a great place to live. You may want to find a home that will scratch that fishing itch. Luckily, there are many waterfront properties in Westchester County that offer easy access to some of the best fishing spots in the area.

In conclusion, fishing is an excellent activity to enjoy in Westchester County. Whether you prefer freshwater or saltwater fishing, there are plenty of opportunities to catch a variety of fish. Just make sure to get your permits and licenses before heading out to the water!

The Current Real Estate Market in Westchester County

This photo shows the dip in Westchester County home sales - this is most likely due to the lack of inventory in the market.  This may indicate that we have many potential pent up home sellers

The photo below shows that prices for modest single-family homes are still going up - showing that there is still a lot of demand from buyers.
